After watching Rachel's show Friday night, I felt moved to write about the extreme hypocrisy of the conservative movement. Specifically, the fact that they would open a conservative conference with a song Why Should God Bless America that was amazingly similar in message to Jeremiah Wright's overexposed yet under-contextualized sermon, Confusing God and Government, aka God Damn America.
To be fair, the Values Voter Summit is in the news now, although the song referenced opened their meeting in 2007. Lest we forget, the Jeremiah Wright saga played out in 2008. leading up to the historic election of Barack Obama as President. Funny how a black guy on the left and white men on the right can say the same thing, yet one is demonized as hateful and the others are praised for extolling conservative values.
Former religious/conservative leader Frank Schaeffer mentions this in this lengthy interview on NPR.

The Daily Kos diary entry is a good one, so I won't reinvent the wheel. Read it here.
For those interested in the story on the 2009 Values Voters summit (which included Carrie Prejean and 2012 Presidential hopefuls), watch below:
totally agree with you! amazing how some folks can say one thing and it's touted as hateful, anti-american, communist...yet someone one else can express the same view, be of a different color, and all is good.
